Ultra Electronics 3 Phoenix (UE3P) has been awarded a $2,234,100 contract by Naval Sea Systems Command to produce and demonstrate a Land-based Persistent Radar (LBPR) Periscope and Surface Surveillance system. The award is for the UE3P proposal in response to the Navy FY15 Rapid Innovation Fund Broad Area Announcement.
Under this contract, UE3P will upgrade a previously developed prototype LBPR, including several performance improvements and additional capabilities. UE3P will demonstrate the production-ready LBPR in a realistic operational environment against targets of tactical importance. The Navy Undersea Systems Office (PEO IWS-5) will oversee this effort, which will also include collaboration with the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. Work will be performed in UE3P Wake Forest, NC and Chantilly, VA facilities.
